Philanthropic Educational Organization Enters New Phase

A woman in Eureka, Ill., is donating her time and money to help people affected by the recent tornado.

Marj Crowe is a member of the local chapter of PEO International, a philanthropic organization for women, and she decided to donate her time and money to help people affected by the devastation, the Journal Star reports.

Crowe says the chapter was founded in 1954 by 13 young women, and since then, it has raised more than $1 million for scholarships, loans, and more.

The chapter has also helped two local high school graduates get $2,500 scholarships, helped a number of women get 2% educational loans, and helped a recent graduate get a scholarship to Cottey College.

"We want to recruit more women from diverse backgrounds to join us in our mission," Crowe says.

"We want to continue to train our members to use technology effectively, and to strengthen our own leadership skills so that we can benefit both PEO and our community."
