"Don't be afraid to be magnificent."

That's the advice of the late Bruce Montgomery, who founded the Bruce Montgomery Foundation for the Arts in Philadelphia more than 50 years ago.

Now, an anonymous donor is putting his or her money where his or her mouth is, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The unidentified donor has pledged to match up to $20,000 of donations made to the foundation over the next two years.

The Bruce Montgomery Foundation for the Arts has since 2014 awarded $2,500 grants to nearly 50 emerging artists and student organizations in high school through college.

Among them have been instrumentalists, vocalists spanning all genres, composers, and schools or groups focused on advancing arts education, per the foundation's website.

"His enduring legacy inspires young performers even today, and his words of encouragement'Don't be afraid to be magnificent!' echo in their endeavors," Elizabeth Montgomery Thomas, president and executive director of the foundation, says in a statement.

The foundation's 2024 winners will be announced at a gala on April 29.

Major Attaway, who has played the Genie in Disney's Aladdin, will be there, as will Kennedy Caughell, who played Carole King in the Broadway production of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
