Philanthropic Cause Takes Center Stage with Apo

Grace Reynolds, 17, sang "Landslide" in the style of Fleetwood Mac, while 11-year-old Rylee Campbell performed "Once Upon a December" in the style of Liz Callaway, but it was Reynolds who took home the top prize at a recent talent show in Valparaiso, Ind.

The Alpha Psi Omega fraternity at the University ofValpo teamed up with Chasing Dreams, a nonprofit that teaches life skills to people with special needs or intellectual disabilities, to hold the talent show, and all the money raised went to the organization.

Viewers were able to buy one vote for $5 or three votes for $10.

"What they would use the money for would be putting on their programssomething that they always try to do is make everything free for all of their students, including their families," Philanthropy Chair Libby Tritten tells the Times of Northwest Indiana.

"So if there's some sort of performance that a bunch of students auditioned for, they would want to be able to sponsor the families to be able to get the tickets to see it.

Their goal is that anything they help their students do ends up being free for them and their family."
