Ludwig Ahgren spent 50 hours locked in a glass box and raised $315,000 for the Alveus Sanctuarybut he didn't just use his gaming skills to raise money for the animal shelter.
The popular gamer used his Twitch stream to solicit donations and chat with viewers, reports Mashable.
"They take what they're really good at, which is their gaming, their content creation, whatever it is, and they use it for an avenue to do some good," says a co-founder of the sanctuary.
Ahgren was one of dozens of gamers who took part in the tournament, which raised $61,900 for the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital.
The tournament used the EA Sports game College Football 25, which is the first college football game played since 2013, to draw fans to Kinnick Stadium for the first time.
"We've never [hosted events] here in Iowa, so we thought, what unique thing can we bring to Iowa? And college football is the big one," a tournament organizer tells the Des Moines Register.
